
Childhaven – 2017

For 2017, Auburn participated in Childhaven’s Season of Giving by holding a children’s toy drive. Auburn was able to fulfill all of the 35 tags sent to us from Childhaven and also donated money to the food bank.

Auburn recently finished work on the Kaiser Permanente facility in Burien. It was a design-build, plumbing and HVAC project that included the new ground-up construction of a single-story, 23,000 SF medical office building. Mechanical work completed included labs, imaging, procedure rooms, exam rooms, offices, common spaces and a pharmacy. The scope consisted of a sanitary waste/vent, storm drain, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system, domestic water systems, natural gas, exhaust, and associated ductwork.
Hoa Mai Gardens is a new, 111-unit, low-income housing apartment complex in the Yesler neighborhood of Seattle. The project was for the Seattle Housing Authority, and Auburn was the design-build mechanical contractor in lieu of full design-build and the full mechanical contractor. Other features of the project include a rainwater harvesting system that provides water for the toilets and the solar powered boilers.
Auburn Mechanical has hired Justin Pritchett as Construction Division Manager. Justin is responsible for managing and supporting project managers, implementing and improving processes, and providing input on short and long-term strategic goals. He reports directly to President Stacy Johnson.
“We are excited to have Justin join our team,” said Stacy. “His previous work experience supports Auburn’s long term objectives of continuous process improvement to streamline our project delivery model for the benefit of our customers. We are looking forward to his new ideas and contributions!”
Justin earned his Bachelors at Central Washington University, with a B.S. in Construction Management. Previously, he held both preconstruction and operations roles for a national general contractor and has experience working on multifamily, high rise, commercial, public works, hospitality, and critical facilities projects.
“During my time in the construction industry, I have had the pleasure of working with Auburn Mechanical on multiple projects,” said Justin. “In my new role with the company I look forward to continuing this working relationship, and I look forward to continuing the Auburn Mechanical tradition of providing the highest level of service to our clients.”
The Southport Offices project had an indoor “groundbreaking” to celebrate the beginning of construction. The owner is Seco Development and the General Contractor is Exxel Pacific. Located in Renton, the project will greatly increase the amount of available office space. The project will include two levels of parking and three, nine-story shell and core towers. Brien’s business experience began in 2006 with Skanska USA Building while being enrolled in the Construction Management and Finance degree programs at Washington State University. He continues today as part of our team involved in some of the company’s most complex and fast-paced projects.
Justin is Auburn’s Director of Construction. He is responsible for managing and supporting project managers, implementing and improving processes, and providing input on short and long-term strategic goals.
Doug Schumacher is Auburn’s Executive Vice President of construction. He oversees project management, engineering, field operations, detailing, and safety. Doug brings over 25 years of experience in design-build, construction, and development. In his past leadership roles, he has focused on business unit growth and performance enhancement over a diverse mix of project types.
Kim joined Auburn Mechanical in 1992. With numerous roles in the company as both project manager and estimator; his main position as materials manager plays a strategic part in the success of our projects. With minimizing the risk of price inflation, standardizing materials, and researching new products, he keeps within budget and on schedule by overseeing the schedule of deliveries. A graduate of the University of Washington, Kim has a BA in Business Administration and has been certified through the MCA Project Manager Program.
